If you have a USR HST modem, it returns the code 13 for 9600
connect, and 14 for a 19200 connect. Most other modems return
12 and 13.
You have to use this modems module for your modem if you have a HST.
SAVE YOUR OLD MODEMS MODULE just incase. Make a "NEW" resource
file using ResEdit and copy and paste the old modems module into
it and save it somewhere. (if you have the original MUBBS archive
on disk somewhere, you can get it from there if you need the
original).
Then open your "modules" file and the resource "Modems Module for HST"
and copy and paste the new modems module into your "modules" resource
file. Say yes when it asks if you want to overwrite the old one.
Hardware handshaking is not supported yet in MUBBS. Someone needs to
make a new serial module and run some tests. So you can only use up
to 9600 on your modem for now. Keep checking the Support BBS.
Here's a modem string that seems to work on the HST just fine. It
was used on a plus but should work on any Mac with the proper cable.
This is what the "modems" TEXT file in the "bbssupport" folder should
look like (if you have 1 line). Don't forget the return after the modem
string (you can leave all the other strings in the file that were for
more lines if you want).
9600,1,0
ATH0E0V0M1S0=0S2=2&C1&A0X1&B0&H0&I0S34=3B0
(all of the 0's above are the number ZERO incase your font doesn't
show zero properly)
That's all there is to it!
Enjoy!
